  Harrietsham Ferrets show 2009.
I hope that silly mother of mine can't find me, I want to go to stay with Roy & Chris at Harrietsham ferrets.
    FERRET BREEDING
Why do some people breed when they don't want the kits.   I can understand people who work ferrets as they need new stock every few years, but what of those who breed for profit, and do not care who they sell to or what happens once the ferrets are sold.

Let me tell you about some of these people I have met and openly tell you what they do.   Some of these are also men who work ferrets, so it's not just breeders who do these things.

Only the other week I had a phone call from a man who told me his grandson had bred his ferrets but only wanted to keep four of the 12 he bred, so he then tried to sell the rest but could not, so his grandfather tried to get him to 'tap' them on the head, as he put it, which is what he used to do.   But the gandson said no and he then rang the RSPCA who said they could not help him but gave him our phone number.   He rang us and we took them.   We now have 110 ferrets.

So this why we have to work hard to support them all.

We met another person at the Detling Show this year who said he breed over a 100 kits a year and only keeps the jills as they are easy to sell.   The hobs he drowns at birth.   So next time you want a ferret try going to a rescue center, rather than these sort of people but go to someone who cares about these lovely furry friends and remember he is relying on you to care & love him or her for the rest of thier life. THANK YOU MY FERRET FRIENDS.
